The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly increase in price year-on-year
A larger external display is said to increase the price of the phone by up to a fifth

Samsung will unveil the fifth generation of its flexible Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones next month. Even though these are half-rounds, we don’t expect any revolutionary news – both phones will get a similar design, better processors and improved cameras. We will see a bigger shift forward with the clamshell model Galaxy Z Flip 5, which will at least get a larger external display. But as it seems, the deployment of a larger display will also bring a significant increase in the selling price.
Bigger display = higher price
According to Greek sources, the basic version of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory should cost 1,299 euros, which translates to about 30,700 crowns. Last year’s model with the same memory configuration started at 1,099 euros in Europe, but in our market it was 27,499 CZK.

The Korean giant clearly feels that it can claim more money in the current competition. The recently revealed Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, for example, costs 28,999 crowns, but it does not have a significant advantage in any parameter compared to the upcoming Flip, on the contrary, it will lose in performance, water resistance and probably also in the quality of the cameras. Motorola’s razor boasts an integrated computer mode, but this should finally make its way to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
At the end of last week, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 posed in front of the camera lens, but only in a protective case that does not reveal much. Only a larger external display is confirmed, which should receive significantly more functions – for example, it can start navigation or you will be able to view a video on it. The display will have an irregular shape with a cutout for the two lenses of the main camera. The picture also shows the side buttons, of which the locking one will also serve as a fingerprint reader.

An image of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 puzzle has also made its way onto the internet, although so far only in the form of a print image. According to him, the upcoming new product should be almost exactly the same as last year’s model, the only visible change is to move the LED flash from the space under the cameras next to them.

The joint is also supposed to change, which supposedly allows the phone to be closed in such a way that there is no gap between its two halves. Thanks to this, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 should be 0.8-2.4 millimeters less when closed than its predecessor. We do not yet know whether this design change will be the reason for intergenerational price increases.
