The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra proves to be ultra solid

Announced a few weeks ago, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the subject of tests of all kinds. The Phonebuff Youtube channel submitted it to a drop test against the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The results are impressive.

As every year, Samsung unveiled the new models of its Note range, the main difference from the S range of which is now the integration of a stylus. Korean delivers us this year a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra integrating the bestr of what he can do at the moment. And if it does not revolutionize the genre, this model remains a Samsung masterpiece.

If we’ve been able to do a full test of it over the past few days, there’s one area we don’t venture into, I’ve named the drop test. Fortunately some media are having a great time for the greatest happiness (or misfortune) of some.

This is the case of the Youtube channel Phonebuff which therefore “had fun” at subject the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra to a few drops in order to check how solid it was. The chain has compared the results with those of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a smartphone marketed at the same price and similar size. Verdict: the Galaxy Note 20 Pro impresses.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra : l’indestructible

Phonebuff tests simulate everyday fall scenarios. The analysis takes place in four stages: a fall flat on the back side, the same screen side, a fall on the corner and a “bonus” test consisting of dropping the smartphone flat on the screen to a height of 1.45 meter (against 1 meter for the other tests). At each step, the tester analyzes 15 points ranging from design to functionalities, including the various sensors (photo, fingerprint reader, accelerometer, etc.).

On all the tests, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is particularly strong. At one meter, its back cracks only in the upper left corner and its screen remains intact while the iPhone 11 Pro Max is in bad shape with in particular the inability to use the camera. Apple’s smartphone does better on sidewall drop tests: the Note 20 Ultra’s ridge looks slightly more damaged.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra displays stunning results on the ultimate test. At 1.45 meters high, the screen remains intact after ten successive drops. Impressive.

These excellent results are probably explained by the integration of Corning’s Gorilla Victus protective glass advertised as four times more resistant than Gorilla Glass 6, especially against falls. Already very solid against the onslaught of JerryRigEverything (YouTuber submitting smartphones to extensive stress tests), the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra therefore ranks among the indestructible (or almost). A very reassuring point for a model sold from 1400 euros.
