Joel Schingtienne left OHL to sign for Venezia, in Serie A. The young 22-year-old central defender has no shortage of ambitions.
This was one of the surprise transfers of the last summer transfer window: Joel Schingtiennea young OHL player decided to take the plunge and sign for Venezia, promoted to Serie A.
In an interview given to The Last Hourhe spoke about this transfer. “They (Venezia) contacted me at the start of last season and continued to follow me regularly. I had a good discussion with the sporting director and, together with my agents, we thought this step was the right one for Me.”
“There was interest from bigger teams, but it might have been difficult for me to get playing time. Additionally, the projects presented to me suited me less. I preferred to go to a club like Venezia”, he continues.
Schingtienne has only played one championship match since his arrival but intends to progress. “Serie A is a very tactical and very intense championship. These are two elements that pushed me to come here, although I must say that I adapted quickly.”
Called up to the Diablotins for the first time in June for a friendly against Morocco, Schingtienne is obviously aiming for the next level: the Red Devils. “If I manage to play regularly in Venezia, I hope to be called up to the Red Devils,” he says.
