The Future of NAND Memory Market: Lower Prices for SSDs and Memory Cards

NAND bones are the main components used, among others, in memories eMMC i UFScarriers SSD and memory cards. Thus, we will find them in PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, consoles and many other devices. They, along with the controller, play the first fiddle in terms of performance.

Want to buy an SSD? Wait! You will save up to 10% of the price

Since the beginning of the year, we have been able to observe cheaper SSDs, which are currently available for next to nothing. However, it seems that compared to RAM modules, semiconductor media prices will be even lower.

Latest report from the group TrendForce is dedicated to the NAND memory market. Researchers say that we will see further declines in the third quarter of 2023. For SSDs, we should see reductions of 8 to 13%. It is supposed to look similar for eMMC and UFS in mobile devices.

Companies responsible for memory chips are reducing production, hoping to create an artificial scarcity and raise prices. However, according to TrendForce these efforts will be in vain and it will not be possible to stifle the oversupply in the market. Even taking into account the traditional, seasonal increase in demand in the coming months.

Preliminary forecasts for the fourth quarter of 2023 predict that SSDs will continue to become cheaper. However, this trend will definitely slow down. The situation is to be saved only by modern, efficient NAND chips created for SSD PCIe 5.0. There are few of them on the market, and there will be more companies willing to offer such carriers, which will raise prices.
