The Future of Mental Health in the United Arab Emirates: Discussion at Sharjah International Book Fair

The Trends Center for Research and Consultation organized a discussion session at the Cultural Forum at the Sharjah International Book Fair, on the sidelines of the book signing ceremony, “The Future of Mental Health Care in the United Arab Emirates,” by Maqsoud Cruz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Commission for Human Rights, published by “Trends.”
The book addresses the future of mental health in the United Arab Emirates, and presents a proposed roadmap for development in this field. The book includes seven chapters, covering various topics, including the modern concept of mental health, the challenges facing mental health in the Emirates, ways to enhance awareness of mental health, modern psychological treatments, and the role of artificial intelligence in mental health care.
Speaking during the discussion session attended by Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of the Trends Center for Research and Consultation, and a number of experts, researchers, interested people and visitors to the exhibition, Maqsoud Cruz expressed his happiness in cooperating with the Trends Center for Research and Consultation to issue this book.
He pointed out in the session moderated by Saqr Al-Sharif, Director of the Training and Development Department at Trends, that the book aims to highlight the importance of mental health and enhance awareness of it in Emirati society, and also aims to provide proposed solutions to the challenges facing this field.
Maqsoud Cruz explained that the book deals with the modern concept of mental health, which focuses on self-compatibility and happiness. It also discusses the challenges facing mental health in the Emirates, such as lack of awareness of mental health, difficulty in accessing psychological services, and stereotypes related to mental health. He stressed that the book presents proposed solutions to the challenges facing mental health in the Emirates, such as increasing awareness of mental health through awareness and education programs, and facilitating access to psychological services through expanding the service provision network. He pointed out that the book also addresses the role of artificial intelligence in mental health care.
Promote awareness
Maqsoud Cruz concluded his speech by calling for the need to enhance awareness of mental health in Emirati society, and to support efforts aimed at developing this field.
