The Japanese carmaker plans to launch 10 electric cars in China over the next five years, all of which will use the new name e: N. Many of these cars will also appear in other markets, including Europe.
–
The first two models, the sporty e: NS1 and e: NP1, are related to the new HR-V crossover and will be offered by Chinese companies working with Honda, Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda. Both are scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2022.
–
Honda says the e: N Series will use an architecture “developed exclusively for electric cars”. It is an extended version of the Honda E platform. They are the development of the SUV e: Prototype concept, which the Japanese introduced at the Beijing Motor Show in 2020.
–
Honda has also shown three concept models, the e: N Coupé, the e: N SUV and the e: N GT, which it plans to use as the basis for production cars over the next five years. Thanks to a later launch date, these cars show a more aggressive and bolder style than the e: NS1 and e: NP1 models mentioned.
–
Honda has not disclosed any performance or technical details of these two new production models or the three concepts. The new electric models are only validated for China, but the company said it “plans to export the e: N series models developed and manufactured in China globally to bring new value to more customers around the world.”
