And it will be interesting to see how other manufacturers will react to this direction. Motorola’s foldable phones are great (and the wrist phone concept is downright awesome), Huawei is trying to get back into the global market and has a lot of experience with foldable phones. Greater use of components from China could allow it to push the price down in an even more pronounced way.
The question remains, how much compromises in equipment would the cheap foldable Samsung offer. You can’t save much in terms of design, you can’t get by even in the middle class today without a high-quality processor. If we consider various promotions (in which Samsung phones can often be purchased), then it would the price of a cheap folding phone from Samsung may not have been significantly different from the latest Samsung Galaxy S24, but which will have perfect specifications. And the question is whether people would prefer an attractive design over equipment.
