Dota 2 analyst and commentator Yaroslav NS Kuznetsov told how the format of the professional scene will change in 2024 after the abolition of the DPC system. In a personal broadcast on Twitch, the caster said that tournament operators have already submitted applications to host more than ten large LAN events in the next competitive season.
But, apparently, they want to build some kind of schedule, some kind of calendar, so they somehow communicate with Valve in order to distribute it by year in some calendar. It is normal for tournaments not to overlap. This practice existed, I know for sure, at least in CS at one time there was definitely such a thing as a calendar, where you had to sign up.
In short, there will be many commercial tournaments next year. That is, something like EPICENTER used to be, BLAST did something, WePlay did something, ESL did something, PGL did something, and so on. And next year this system will return. And already about ten, if I understand correctly, large LANs have applied to be held.
Accordingly, when these are commercial tournaments, and not contracted tournaments, like the Bali Major, naturally, the organizers try to make it cool. They need to outdo each other. They fight for the viewer, fight for his attention, fight for the hype created around the tournament. And if you create pop bullshit, no one is interested in it.
14 September Valve announced, which will abandon the Dota Pro Circuit system in the next competitive season. The developers promised to talk about how teams will be selected for The International under the new conditions later – no earlier than 2024.
