The head of Larian Studios, Sven Vincke, in an interview with Eurogamer, revealed his organization’s plans for the upcoming game Baldur’s Gate 3.
The developer noted that the company considers not only the success of the title, but also the failure. Vincke compared the situation of Larian to CD Projekt RED in 2015, when the Polish studio was preparing to release The Witcher 3. The success helped CDPR create Cyberpunk 2077. If Baldur’s Gate 3 sells well, Vincke’s team will also take on an ambitious project.
I already know what we want to do next. Larian Studios had six years to think of other ideas. But we need to know if the market is ready for Baldur’s Gate 3. If it’s ready, then we’ll continue to innovate in the genre, and if not, we’ll move in a slightly different direction. This is something that cannot be known in advance. Sven Winke, Head of Larian Studios
