St. Louis Cardinals lived one of the most heart-pounding games in the 2024 role. With Nolan Arenado hitting the opportune hit in the ninth inning left the San Diego Padres on the field. Nevertheless, the star third baseman focused on praising two of the young talents who have surprised Redibirds.
Nolan Arenado is on the rise. Certainly, the campaign has not been the most consistent in terms of his performance. He trained very hard in the offseason to get to the season and regain his throne as the best third baseman in MLB and offensively to be among the leading hitters. The road was hard for him and on several occasions his self-criticism shone through.
Following the win against the Padres, Arenado took advantage of an interview with Jim Hayes to praise the work of two rookies in particular. One established himself in the infield, while the other moved between the Memphis Redbirds and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Nolan Arenado showers rookies with praise
The Cardinals third baseman spoke especially about the work of Masyn Winn y Victor Scott IIBoth were on the Opening Day roster, but Winn has held out for the entire season while Scott II was optioned to Triple-A. Scott returned after Michael Siani was injured, but responded with big defensive plays.
“Masyn has been our best player. I couldn’t be more impressed with him. Vic, man, he’s getting better every day. They did their job and it was time for me to do mine.”said Nolan Arenado. Masyn and Victor mounted the attack with which Nolan Arenado was able to drive in the winning run in the ninth inning.
Masyn and Victor have stood out as two skilled glovemen. When the outfielder was expected to, Jordan Walkerwas the star of the rookies, Winn stood out leading for several moments in the Cardinals statistics. Masyn batting .285OPS of .757, in addition to having 11 home runs and 46 RBIs.
For his part, Scott II has seen action in 41 games. In 2023 he was with the Peoria Chiefs and curiously made his MLB debut in the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, without going through Triple A. In 41 games accumulated eight RBIs and two home runs. His overall totals are certainly low, but in August he has a .238 average, which is when he got his two home runs.
Nolan Arenado’s stats haven’t been the best. With 14 home runs, he’s a long way from the 26-run mark he had in 2023, and 61 RBIs so far pale in comparison to the 91 in 2023. Both fall to the 103 in 2022.

Nolan Arenado and company are looking to reduce the seven-game margin to get into the fight for a Wild Card spot. The Arizona Diamondbacks, Padres and Atlanta Braves are the ones who would qualify for the postseason by this route.
