The government’s response
The Minister of Justice made his response known through Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Secretary of State for Development, Francophony and International Partnerships: ” The Keeper of the Seals announced last February the project to build a judicial city in Marseille, in order to bring together the Marseille courts within the same functional building, adapted to the justice of the 21st century.e century. The reflection on the choice of the site continues, in consultation with local elected officials, the mayor of Marseille and the president of the Metropolis. The functional constraints of the current site preclude the creation of a unified judicial city and a functional, secure and sustainable development-compliant working tool. A new construction would bring together all the courts in a single modern and efficient building, within a much tighter timetable. Consultation is continuing with all the parties concerned, in particular the lawyers. »
