Ever since Ferrari announced an SUV over three years ago, every mule or prototype we’ve seen so far has been covered in heavy camouflage. But just out of nowhere images of what could be a pre-production version of the Purosangue have come out. The photo appears to have been taken at the Maranello factory.
Take a Ferrari Roma, elevate it, lengthen its body slightly and give it a sweeping roofline and rugged wheel arches. Here you have obtained a Purosangue. Two photos of the future Ferrari SUV “have leaked” on the Web in recent days. The front three-quarter photo reveals a similar design to the SF90 Stradale. On the other hand, the grille is very specific, even if you will recognize Roma tunes. Unlike its other front-engined models, Ferrari chose not to place the grille in line with the headlights. Instead, it’s pretty low.
There is also black cladding around the wheel arches and on the lower body. A detail typical of modern SUVs that gives a more adventurous side. Plus, given Ferrari’s incredibly wide repertoire of customization services, it will certainly be possible to choose these body-colored parts. The back of this pre-series Purosangue has a much more conventional design : four rear lights a bit like the 296 GTB, four tailpipes and a large diffuser.

Any news for engines?
Even if the appearance of this SUV does not necessarily correspond to what the “Ferrari” expect from Ferrari, the performance should be. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, sources already suggest that the Purosangue will offer a turbocharged hybrid engine but also a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 for the most top-of-the-range version. In summary, we expect to find the V6 hybrid powertrain of the 296 GTB and its 830 horsepower and the V12 of the 812 GTS.

Another possibility is the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the SF90 Stradale, but most certainly without the electric motors. Nevertheless, this V8 is already very powerful on its own since it develops 780 horsepower. Overall, while we’ve certainly learned a lot about the Purosangue from this leak, there’s still a lot to discover. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long, as a Ferrari document has revealed that the SUV will go into production this year.
