The future coalition will continue negotiations on the division of responsibilities

AS politician Uldis Pīlēns also said that the division of ministries will be decided in more detail when the text of the government statement is drafted. Pilen agrees with his colleagues that currently the most important issue on the agenda is the creation of a declaration, also the division of working groups, which generally reviews all spheres related to the further work of the government.

There is no dispute between the parties over the proportion of areas of responsibility, which stipulates that the JV is entitled to seven positions in the government, including the Prime Minister, and AS and NA – four positions each, the politician said. He indicated that work on the government declaration will be very intense next week.

As reported, according to Kariņš’s proposal, JV could occupy seven positions in the government: the positions of Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Education and Science, Minister of Justice, Minister of Climate and of the Energy and Minister of Wellbeing.

AS would be entitled to the post currently held as president of Saeima and four other positions in the government: the post of minister of internal affairs, minister of agriculture, minister of health and minister of regional development and digitization affairs.

NA, on the other hand, should hold four ministerial posts: the posts of Minister of Defense, Minister of Culture, Minister of Transport and Minister of Economy.
