Achieng Agutu is a fashion and lifestyle influencer. She has around 730,000 followers across multiple platforms.

2022 was the 26-year-old’s first year as a full-time influencer from January to December.

He disclosed all of his earnings to Business Insider.

Two years ago, Achieng Agutu had just completed his Masters in Marketing. His Snapchat recollections from that time show Agutus late at night eating ramen noodles and drinking Red Bull and “trying to get through his exam weeks.” But now his everyday life looks very different, the 26-year-old lifestyle and fashion influencer told Business Insider.

“At this point, I didn’t think beyond wallpapering the wall,” says Agutu. “I definitely wanted to be active on social media 24/7, but I didn’t realize how much it could change my life and the lives of those around me.”

In 2020, Agutu initially started sharing more and more content. As of early 2021, she still had fewer than 100,000 followers, according to Social Blade. Now in 2022, Agutu is finishing her first year as a full-time influencer with around 488,000 followers on Instagram alone and 730,000 followers in total, spread across Instagram, Tiktok and Youtube.

Thus ends 2022 with over a million dollars in sales from brand offers on social media. Business Insider verified earnings using documentation provided by Agutus Management. Converted at the current exchange rate, the influencer earned around 938,800 euros.

“I thought the most I could get out of it was $500,000,” says the influencer. “It’s so unreal. I haven’t had time to process how far I’ve come financially.”

How Agutu made money in his first year as a full-time influencer:

Though Agutu started out as a full-time influencer in 2021, she says 2022 in particular has been a year of experimentation.
