- ‘Red Alert 2’: all about the sequel to the film.
The new Netflix movie, Red alert, has a cast of first-rate actors in roles for which they seem to be well endowed. However, despite the great talent, the film is receiving mediocre reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The film had a limited theatrical release and premiered on Netflix on November 12.
The film centers on two art thieves, Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) and The Bishop (Gal Gadot), who compete to steal three golden eggs that are rumored to have belonged to Cleopatra. FBI agent John Hartley (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is in charge of capturing Bishop. However, soon the unlikely pair are united in an effort to capture the elusive Bishop. Along the way there are many betrayals, triple betrayals, and witty jokes.
There have been many negative reviews of Red alert, as critics consider it to be familiar and loaded with clichés. However, the jury has yet to decide the public’s verdict. One thing’s for sure: With a star-studded cast, it’s sure to appeal to Netflix viewers.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays FBI agent John Hartley. Hartley is your typical cop character. He is a tough and strong guy willing to lock up criminals. Johnson is a fighter turned actor. He is best known for reboots of Jumanji, as well as for appearing in the franchise of Fast & Furious like Hobbs. He is also known for voicing Maui in the hit animated film. Moana. Recently, he starred Jungle Cruise from Disney with Emily Blunt. Johnson is having a hard time shedding the typecasting as a strong, muscular action star, although he does well in those roles.

Ryan Reynolds also heads the Netflix action movie as Nolan Booth. Booth is a slick art thief. This charlatan often blurts out references to other movies while stealing art from Hartley’s nose. The character is similar to many other famous Reynolds characters. The actor is known for playing action heroes with a strong sense of humor. This includes movies from Deadpool, which break the fourth wall, in which he plays the titular character. Reynolds is also known for his starring role in the cast of Free Guy.

It is the complement of Booth and Hartley, becoming the reason why both are forced to team up. She is a good art thief, perhaps even better than Booth. It’s interesting that she’s stealing Cleopatra’s art, as Gadot herself has been cast as the Egyptian queen in an upcoming movie. Gal Gadot’s fame skyrocketed when she was cast as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. She later starred in Wonder Woman and its sequel Wonder Woman 1984. She is slated to play the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
