FTC thinks Microsoft will want to block games on other platforms we have already seen such a situation in the case of Bethesda, according to officials:
“Microsoft has already proven that it can hide content from its gaming rivals. Today we are trying to prevent Microsoft from gaining control of a major independent game studio and using it to harm competition in the many fast-growing and dynamic gaming markets,” Holly Widow, director of the FTC’s Office of Competition.
The Federal Trade Commission’s actions to block Activision Blizzard’s transaction with Microsoft are about to start a whole new chapter in the history of the US technology industry. Lina Khan has been named the new head of the FTC and is behind “a new era of antitrust enforcement characterized by a willingness to take cases to court rather than seek deals with companies”.
We can suspect that the “fight” for Call of Duty will continue. Activision representatives have already stated that they will fight for the transaction and are ready to go to court so that the merger can be approved as a last resort.
