The fourth regional congress of the Federation of Independent Teaching Unions (FSIE) of the Region of Murcia was held this Friday at the Rincón Huertano restaurant, with the aim of analyzing the organization’s management in the last legislature, voting for new members of the regional executive for the next four years and establish the general lines of union policy, among other issues.
The congress, which was attended by more than 100 guests, was attended by numerous authorities, including the president of the regional government, Fernando López Miras; the Minister of Education, María Isabel Campuzano; the president of the School Council of the Region of Murcia, Juana Mulero; the general director of Educational Centers, Jesús Pellicer; the general director of Vocational Training and Innovation, Juan Iborra García; the general deputy director of Educational Evaluation and Academic Planning, Inmaculada Moreno; the general deputy director of Educational Centers, María Luisa Cola; the secretary of the Education Commission, Víctor Martínez-Carrasco; the parliamentary spokespersons of the Education Commission Sonia Ruiz, Francisco Álvarez and Francisco José Carrera, and the Councilor for Education of Murcia, Antonio Benito. Representatives of the employers’ associations (Education and Management, Ucoerm, CECE) and the associations of parents of students (Concapa and Fampace) also attended.
One of the most anticipated items was the election of the new FSIE regional executive, who was appointed to applause. For the position of president, Francisco Delgado Montero was re-elected to face a new mandate, and Federico Faus Máñez was appointed as general secretary to replace Juan Pedro Hurtado Sánchez, who had been carrying out this work for the last 12 years.
The new committee announced that it has a strategic roadmap on the table between now and 2025, with important actions to continue positioning the FSIE in the first line of defense of private, concerted education and care for disability. To do this, they indicated that they will continue negotiating for the interests of teachers, complementary personnel, and administration and services personnel; they will fight for the maintenance and improvement of the concerts, so that parents have the freedom to choose the educational center of their children; they will bet on employment, the increase in salary remuneration, and the continuity and improvement of partial retirement; They will demand the Law of the Teaching Function, and will promote the protocols and plans for the prevention of occupational risks.
High representativeness
During the course of the congress, it was revealed that for the FSIE, the majority union in private education arranged in the defense of teachers and non-teaching personnel, the Region of Murcia is one of its main bastions, with 87% representation among the workers of the concerted. This is a figure that reflects the trust that the educational community has in the FSIE, thanks to its ability to provide solutions to the demands of its members.
It also revealed all the work carried out in the last four years by the union, which has experienced a qualitative leap in the Community by achieving important milestones, from obtaining numerous delegates in the care centers for people with disabilities to maintaining and renewing the various collaboration agreements signed with the regional administration and employers. Notable among these are the employment maintenance agreement, the partial retirement agreement for staff in delegated pay, the teacher training agreement, the remuneration approval agreement and the agreement for the continuation of payment of the extraordinary seniority pay.
Educational pact and better conditions
The slogan of the congress was ‘We work for an inclusive education that guarantees your rights and freedoms’, a maxim that the FSIE Region of Murcia claimed in pursuit of quality teaching. «We want an educational pact that is stable over the years and that prioritizes the freedom of choice of center and education; the maintenance of the centers, jobs and improvement of working conditions in the special education centers, and the announcement of concerts or subsidies of the private centers of Infant Education of 0-3 years for the maintenance and recognition of the workers of this sector ”, claimed the new regional executive.
Likewise, the union showed its resounding rejection of the so-called ‘Celáa law’, because it considers that it “goes against concerted education and puts jobs in the sector at risk.” For this reason, the FSIE has convened different actions in Murcia, in collaboration with families, center owners and workers, and together with the ‘More Plurals’ platform, two digital meetings on Twitter, three demonstrations with vehicles and informational meetings electronically to express their opposition, due to “the content, the excessive ideological burden, the null participation of the educational community in its preparation, the strong social rejection and the scant parliamentary consensus.”
Special collaboration
The event was closed by the speech of the president of the regional government, Fernando López Miras, who highlighted the spirit of dialogue and collaboration of the FSIE in the search for solutions and the will to be part of them. In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the union and the Autonomous Administration maintain a close line of collaboration and understanding, and both parties trust that it will be maintained over time so that the signed agreements are extended and improved over the years. Of all the agreements, the compensation standardization and job maintenance agreements are especially important.
