Two days after the green light from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine against the coronavirus, it is the turn of the High Authority for Health (HAS) to approve, this Thursday, the use of the produced in France, the instance announced in a press release.

The vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech “can be used in people 16 years of age and over”, “because of its efficacy and its satisfactory tolerance profile”, estimates the HAS.

Start of vaccination on Sunday

The “prioritization strategy” already announced (starting with the populations most at risk of severe form and those most exposed to the risk of infection) remains valid for this vaccine, adds the opinion of the health authority.

The first vaccines will be “delivered on Saturday” on French territory and the vaccination campaign will begin Sunday in “two or three” establishments for the elderly and will concern “a few dozen residents”, announced Olivier Véran at the beginning of the week.
