We take the same one, and we start again! For the third year in a row, Julian Alaphilippe received the French Golden Bike. This trophy, awarded by the Vélo Magazine newspaper following the vote of a jury, rewards the best French rider of the year.
“Julian Alaphilippe, my rainbow year”: how the double world champion proceeded to write his first book
An expected reward for the Deceuninck – Quick Step rider, who last September became the first Frenchman to retain his world title. He beat Loana Lecomte, winner of the MTB World Cup (cross-country), and Benoît Cosnefroy, bronze medalist at the European Championships.
As in 2019, the international Vélo d’or went to Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, who this year won his second Tour de France, Liège-Bastogne-Liège as well as the Tour of Lombardy. The podium is completed by Primoz Roglic and Wout van Aert. Julian Alaphilippe took 4th place.
