Al-Akhbar (Nouakchott) – The French Army Chief of Staff, General Thierry Bercard, delivered a lecture on Friday to a number of military leaders and senior officers in the Mauritanian army, in addition to the staff and students of the Defense College of the Group of Five Countries in the Sahel in Nouakchott.
During his presentation, the French military official discussed the importance of academic military training and its role in training future leaders, referring to the geopolitical situation in the region and the future of the French-African partnership in the security field.
The French general also talked about strengthening military relations between Mauritania and France, stressing the need to develop them.
The lecture was accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Armies, Lieutenant-General Bilah Shaaban, the Commander of the Defense College of the Group of Five Countries in the Sahel, Major General Ibrahim Fal al-Shaibani, the Commander of the Special Forces, Major General Muhammad al-Sheikh Beida, the Commander of the Air Force Staff, Major General Hammadi Ali Mouloud, and some of the senior officers of the General Staff of the Armies.
On Friday, the French Army Chief of Staff began an official visit to Mauritania, during which he met with President Mohamed Ould Al-Ghazwani, Minister of Defense Hanna Sidi Hanna, in addition to the Chief of Staff of the armies in Mauritania, Lieutenant-General Mukhtar Bel Chaaban.
