The attack took place around five o’clock in the evening near a school in the western suburbs of Paris, Conflan-Senonore.
According to police, the person killed is a history teacher who recently showed cartoons with the Prophet Muhammad in class.
The attacker was seriously injured when he was shot by police, sources close to the investigation said. The attacker later died from his injuries.
Police arrived at the scene when they received a call about a suspicious man near the school.
When the police arrived, they found a dead person and 200 meters away they noticed the suspect with a knife-like weapon who was threatening them.
Police discovered the fire and seriously injured him.
The scene was closed and sapper called, because there was a suspicion of an explosive vest.
Prosecutors said the incident was considered a “murder linked to a terrorist organization.”
