The Central Committee for Media and Communication of the Free Patriotic Movement issued a statement indicating the movement’s condemnation of the attack on the Irish battalion operating within the UNIFIL force.
The press release affirms “the adherence of the current to resolution 1701 as the international guarantor of stability in the south. It reiterates the invitation to all parties to respect it, recalling that Lebanon has respected and adhered to this decision throughout the term of President Michel Aoun . “
The statement added: “The movement extends condolences from the President of the Republic of Ireland, Michael Daniel Higgins, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and wishes a speedy recovery for the injured.”
