The Frankfurt marathon restarts after a two-year break

Frankfurt am Main (dpa / lhe) – – The Frankfurt marathon will resume on Sunday (10:00) after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic. About 12,000 runners entered the 39th edition of the Main marathon. In total, including relay races and other competitions, 20,000 participants are expected in the major running event. Ethiopian Betesfa Getahun is a favorite for men with a personal best of 2:05:28. Kenyan Sally Kaptich is fastest on the starting list with 2:21:09.

The goal of German marathon champion Hendrik Pfeiffer from Hanover and Filimon Abraham from Regensburg from Eritrea is to lower the norm for the 2023 World Championships in Budapest by 2:09:40. Among the German female elite, Laura Hottenrott (Kassel) and Thea Heim (Regensburg) at the start.
