JAKARTA – Entering the fourth week of March 2021, there are several space phenomena taking place in outer space. As is known, the phenomenon of space always changes every week.
The following are some of the space phenomena that occurred in the fourth week of this month, as reported by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), Wednesday (24/5/2021).
Pollux Moon Conjunction (March 23)
The moon is in conjunction with Pollux, the main star in the constellation Gemini, at 17.26 WIB with a separation angle of 5.5 °. However, this phenomenon can only be witnessed at the end of the nautical twilight (Sun altitude -12 °) from the north with a separation angle of 3.08 °.
Meanwhile, the last sighting occurred the next day (March 24) at 01.20 local time from the west-northwest direction with a separation angle of 4.67 °.
The moon is in the initial bump or big Moon with 68.5% illumination, while Pollux has a brightness of +1.15.
Regulus Conjunction (March 25-26)
The moon will conjunction with Regulus, the main star in the constellation Leo, on March 26 at 07.17 WIB with a separation angle of 4.7 °. However, this phenomenon has been witnessed since the night before (March 25) when the end of the maritime twilight (Sun altitude -12 °) from the east-northeast direction with a separation angle of 9.9 °.
