The four Norwegian women who are detained in Syria are charged with terrorism

The four women are detained in the Roj and Al Hol camps in northeastern Syria.

– Four women who are under investigation by PST, are charged with participating in a terrorist organization in Syria, writes senior adviser Martin Bernsen in a text message to channels.

Among the women are a 34-year-old from Trøndelag, two sisters aged 23 and 27 from Bærum and Aisha Shazadi Kausar (30) from Bærum. The latter asked the Norwegian authorities for help to return to Norway no later than May.

– We are happy if there is now a formal charge, which allows her to be extradited and brought to Norway, so that she can be investigated and primarily acquitted here, says Kausar’s defender, John Christian Elden, to NRK.

In addition to Kausar, one of the other women has asked for help to return.

Participation in a terrorist organization can be punished with up to six years in prison.
