The founder of the association Le Refuge, created to help victims of homophobia in family breakdown, has been in police custody in Montpellier (Hérault) since Wednesday, reports Thursday January 20 France Blue Herault. Nicolas Noguier is the subject of several complaints for moral or sexual harassment, touching or sexual assault, abuse of weakness or even corruption of a minor. These complaints were filed by former volunteers of the association.
After eighteen years of presidency, he had to resign in February 2021, recalls France Bleu. The case started with a Mediapart survey (article reserved for subscribers), in December 2020. In February 2021, an audit carried out by an independent firm confirmed serious dysfunctions within the association. The day the conclusions of this audit were made public, Nicolas Noguier announced his resignation from the presidency of the Refuge.
In addition, still in February 2021, the Montpellier prosecutor’s office opened a preliminary investigation for “serious facts” after reports. Until then, Nicolas Noguier has always denied the charges brought against him.
