The Founder of Plataran Group: Yozua Makes – A Leader in Business, Law, and Education

From his unique background, Yozua Makes started his career as a financial lawyer in the fields of Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, and Investment Laws. He continued his education at several international universities after graduating from the University of Indonesia.

He also succeeded in establishing his own law firm, namely Makes & Partner Law Firm in 1993 and has more than thirty-five years of experience in this field.

As a form of passion and love for Indonesian culture, the establishment of the Plataran Group began in 2009. The couple Yozua and Makes converted their private villa into a boutique villa resort in Bali. The resort offers a concept of Balinese characteristics and culture that is starting to be abandoned and offers views of lush Balinese gardens.

Plataran Group itself has a number of properties spread throughout Indonesia, ranging from healing places in the forest to luxury resorts located in the middle of rice fields. The hotel business offers a number of unforgettable holiday experiences for those who want to enjoy the beauty of nature.

In 2020, Yozua was appointed directly by President Jokowi as one of five members of the supervisory board of the Indonesian Investment Management Institute. This investment institution is tasked with managing Indonesian investment and optimizing Indonesia’s economic growth.

Apart from that, Yozua is also a member of the supervisory board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) as well as being the first member of the National Corporate Governance Committee.

He became a member and representative from Indonesia on the newly formed Southeast Asia Advisory Panel of Temasek (TSEAP). TSEAP consists of leading business leaders with knowledge of Southeast Asia to support investments and projects in the region.

Apart from business and economics, Yozua has also penetrated the world of education. He is a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia and Pelita Harapan University.
