Forspoken’s free demo is available on PS5, but if you were hoping it would finally answer the question of whether Square Enix’s new open-world RPG would be worthwhile, it still doesn’t appear to be the answer. .
A demo of Forspoken can be found on PlayStation Store. In it, you will be briefly told about the setting, given a very short guide, and then you are free to complete some tasks and run around the open world. It doesn’t really feel like this part was taken from the full game – it seems the demo offers a custom sandbox built from in-game assets to showcase the combat system and parkour.
The Forspoken subreddit is currently filled with discussions about the game, and it doesn’t take long to see player opinions divided.
One Reddit user called it “the best demo I’ve ever played”, stating that “From time to time, I think we all feel like we’ve found our game, and that’s how I feel about Forspoken.” After playing the demo for over 3 hours, I can’t describe how much I love this game.”
Another Reddit user says, “I’m really glad they released a demo,” so they’ve decided to hold off on buying Forspoken at launch. He added that “everything is just plain bad”, citing unintuitive controls, blurry visuals, inconsistent performance, and stating that “combat is clunky, slow and just plain not fun”.
