A visit to the site, which will eventually host a student residence, a hostel, a nursery and third places, was organized on Wednesday in the presence of the mayor of Lyon and the president of the Metropolis.
It is a rehabilitation project in line with the vision of the new executives of the City of Lyon and the Metropolis. The conversion project of the former Truffaut college, located at 4 place Lieutenant Morel in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon, was initiated in 2016 with an investor-architect-user consultation. The Metropolis then wanted to initiate a major transformation of this establishment which had closed its doors in 2013, with the idea of extending its initial vocation in favor of young people. Built between 1884 and 1887 under the direction of the architect Prosper Perrin, it had, since its opening in 1887, always been entirely devoted to teaching.
A consultation won in 2018 by the SACVL and Linkcity
Consultation was finally won in 2018 by the SACVL and Linkcity. The objective announced from the start by the management of the lessor of the city of Lyon was clear: to organize a multi-activity space by highlighting all its skills in one place. A 60-year long-term lease arrangement with the promoter and the investor – the SACVL – was thus retained by the community, to ensure that the building is kept in its bosom at the end of it. . The signing of the construction lease between the Metropolis and Linkcity, and the VEFA between Linkcity and the SACVL, took place in 2020.
A site visit was organized on Wednesday in the presence of Bruno Bernard, president of the Metropolis, Grégory Doucet, mayor of Lyon, Raphaël Michaud, his deputy for housing, Béatrice Vessiller vice-president of the Metropolis in charge of town planning, and Yasmine Bouagga, mayor of the 1st arrondissement.
