However, it is now reported that “The Grand Tour” may be suspended, not because of the ratings performance, but because of the words and deeds of one of the hosts, Jeremy Clarkson.
In December last year, the British “Sun” published Clarkson’s column commentary on Meghan, the wife of the Duke of Harry. The content mentioned that Meghan should be paraded naked in the streets to let the public criticize and throw excrement. Even if Meghan’s reputation in the UK is not ideal, the remarks still exceed the boundaries of reasonable comments or appropriate ridicule. This caused serious criticism. According to reports, because of this comment, the “Sun” received more than 20,000 complaints, including the mayor of London and other powerful people.
Clarkson quickly asked The Sun to remove the article and apologized to Meghan and Harry. However, the turmoil did not seem to stop because of the internal news of the streaming platform that it will no longer cooperate with Clarkson. This means that the 4-episode special program of “The Grand Tour”, which was originally expected to be broadcast in 2024, and the third season of “Clarkson’s Farm”, will face a half-cut ending.
Although the official has not officially come forward, there are already some clues that can be judged. For example, the press conference originally scheduled to promote the second season of “Clarkson’s Farm” on January 16 was suddenly canceled, but Clarkson himself revealed that the streaming platform is still very interested in the show. . In fact, this is not the first time Clarkson has been caught in a storm of controversy. When Top Gear ended its cooperation with the Three Musketeers headed by Clarkson, it was also because he beat the producer of the show in 2015.
