The Former Scandinavian Ports of Groningen: Revival and Relocation Plans

The Scandinavian ports
In the city of Groningen, the Danish, Swedish and Finnish harbors are located on the Winschoterdiep, roughly behind the Ikea. They were dug after the war to turn the city into a seaport again, but that idea never came to fruition. Ships became larger and preferred to unload their cargo in Delfzijl rather than sail to Groningen.

The municipality now has plans for housing in some of these ports and the companies located there, such as Hunzetrans in the Danish Port, must therefore relocate.
