The former rector of UNWE Prof. Borislav Borisov died in an accident yesterday.

The tragedy took place around 1:56 pm on Saturday on the road between the Kavaka area and the Gotse Delchev village of Koprivlen. According to initial information, a Toyota Rav 4 car crashed into a roadside ravine. The 72-year-old driver of the car died, police said.

In September, Borissov was to turn 73. He is a professor at the University of National and World Economy and rector for two consecutive terms (2003-2011). He was an adviser to President Georgi Parvanov.

In 1988 he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences (now Doctor of Economics). He was elected associate professor in 1990 and professor in 2004. He is lecturing on Intellectual Property and Intangible Assets Management. He is the author of over 100 publications.
