The former rector of Plovdiv University disappeared without a trace!

At the request of relatives, officials from the Fourth RU search for Nikola Petkov Balabanov, 85, from Plovdiv. Sunday 18 September was the last time at his home on “Iztochen” Blvd., and since then no one knows where he is.

The wanted man is 173 cm tall, of thin build, blue eyes, white hair. He wore beige pants, a long-sleeved red shirt, and a green jacket. He had identity papers with him. Persons who have information on wanted persons can report to the service unit of the Fourth RU – Plovdiv on tel .: 032/932 004.

Prof. Nikola Balabanov was born in 1937 in Plovdiv. He graduated in physics from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and was a teacher for 5 months in the village of Golyamo Konare, now the city of Saedinenie.

Subsequently, he won a competition at Sofia University, but only six months later he moved to Plovdiv as the first state assistant at the then Higher Pedagogical Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, which later became PU “Paisiy Hilendarski”. For 51 years he taught atomic physics at the university. He was rector of the graduate school from 1989 to 1993.
