The long-time former mayor of Rouen Ismail Osman came out with a comment about the turmoil in the DPS. In it, he clearly positions himself on which side of the divided party he stands. He is expected to be at the top of the list of candidates for people’s representatives of DPS – The New Beginning.
Here is what Osman has to say, without editorial intervention:
Hello dear friends, last night in Rouen they held a meeting of the General Assembly of the DPS, at which meeting they nominated candidates for people’s representatives from the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ALF), I was invited to the meeting in question, but after I found out that candidates would be nominated for people’s representatives from the APS, not from the DPS, I categorically refused!
Over the years, the seniors in the party, as well as all the presidents I have worked with from Mr. Dogan to Mr. Karadai, have taught me not to betray the DPS, so I did a year ago when I was not nominated for the mayor of the municipality of Rouen, many mayors, local DPS chairmen, voters and other parties told me to run for office from another place, I categorically refused because I am a DPS.
Now, after a year, some people are suggesting that I go to APS, because Mr. Delyan Peevski stole the party, and we had to work for another party and coalition, no, he didn’t steal the party, he was nominated by Mr. Dogan, but late unanimously elected at a National Conference in February, nominated by all municipal and regional structures in the country, including by the Municipal Conference of DPS-Rouen!
Last night at a meeting, some people who were elected by the DPS, but now working for the APS, declared me a “traitor”, to them I state the following: Gentlemen, I am in the DPS, where are you? Are you not selected by DPS? Now why are you making mayors, councilors and local DPS chairmen work for APS? Who is a traitor, the one who works for DPS or the one who works for APS?
Ladies and gentlemen, mayors, municipal councilors, local chairmen of DPS and MDPS, women’s associations of DPS, all of you and I are elected by DPS, not by APS, do not give in to pressure, with a decision of the Supreme Administrative Court a few days ago, DPS appears in these elections as a coalition “Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) – New beginning”!
