the former Luxembourg spy arrested in Moselle and imprisoned in Nancy

He was arrested this Thursday, in a spectacular fashion, as he was preparing to cross the Luxembourg border. He was imprisoned in Nancy prison while waiting for the United States to demand his extradition.

Prosecuted in one of the most resounding politico-judicial scandals in Luxembourg

Frank Schneider had been involved in one of the most resounding politico-legal scandals in the Grand Duchy. In the 2000s, number 3 of SREL, the intelligence service of the Luxembourg state, was prosecuted for violating laws on privacy and data protection, along with two other executives of the service, Marco Mille and André Kemmer.

After 28 meetings of the parliamentary commission of inquiry, and a publicized trial, the three spies were acquitted. Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the Luxembourg government, told our colleagues at RTL that he had been recorded without his knowledge in 2008 by the head of his own secret service, Marco Mille. The same Marco Mille, for his part, declared that Grand Duke Henri had permanent contact with the British intelligence services.

Schneider left SREL in 2008 to found his own business intelligence company, whose shareholding and financial structure turned out to be quite opaque.
