In an interview with the BBC, the German entrepreneur Corinna Larsen talks about their love story for the first time
Corinna Larsen is a 55-year-old German princess and business woman of Danish descent, divorced and with children. She told the BBC that she had been seduced by Juan Carlos and had had a story with him since 2004. “We always laughed a lot together. We had many interests in common: politics, history, excellent food, wines …” the woman told, retracing the initial stages of their love. Galeotta was on a hunting trip in February 2004, then an appointment in Madrid started an intense and passionate story.

The marriage of Juan Carlos and Sofia of Greece was not a problem. “He told me that they had a deal to represent the Crown, but that they led completely different and separate lives. The king had just emerged from a nearly 20-year relationship with another woman who had held an important place in his heart and in his life.” Corinna revealed, adding that the king was determined to divorce in order to live with her in the sunlight. In any case, their relationship was not so clandestine, since each of the two attended the children of the other. Juan Carlos also honored his beloved’s son with a € 65 million transfer to an account in the Bahamas from a Swiss deposit.
The story between Larsen and the king emeritus lasted for five years and ended, according to the protagonist’s stories, when Juan Carlos confessed to her (at his father’s funeral) that he had been having an affair with another woman for 3 years. Over the years, the strong sentiment turned first into a tender friendship, then into open hostility.

Juan Carlos was king of Spain from 1975 to 2014, the year of his abdication in favor of his son Felipe. On 3 August 2020, with a letter to his successor, he announced his decision to leave Spain besieged by corruption allegations. He now resides in Abu Dhabi, in a paparazzi-proof fortress. But the BBC service will surely have reached it there too …
