I didn’t kill an animal. I was not in the same car with the killed animal. I’ve seen the people in the other car twice and I have nothing to do with them. I was not in the same place in the forest with them, we find ourselves on the way home, “Dimitar Georgiev, the former head of SANS, told Nova TV. Yesterday he was detained for poaching and later released along with three other people.

Police arrested him near the Blagoevgrad village of Sushitsa after a report of illegal hunting in the area. According to Nova TV, Georgiev and the rest of the group explained to the authorities that they had seen the lame wild boar, thought it was sick and, in order not to infect the other animals in the forest, had carried out a sanitary shooting.

Along with him, a current SANS employee was detained, as well as the owner of the Vitosha football team (Bistritsa), where former Prime Minister and GERB leader Boyko Borissov played. According to Nova TV, this is Sergei Tashkov. A search of the group’s cars turned up several hunting weapons, a large quantity of ammunition and a killed wild boar. An investigation has been launched in the case in the prosecutor’s office in Blagoevgrad, BNR clarifies.

The case was also commented by the caretaker Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov. He clarified before the opening of the first sitting of the 46th parliament that the detained SANS employee is from the legal department of the service.

With two jeeps and a killed wild boar in one of the cars they were caught hunting at night. Pre-trial proceedings were instituted in the case. The young SANS employee is a colleague of Boyko Borisov from the Bistrishki Tigers sports club. They play a match, they play sports together “Rashkov said.

At the end of May, the cabinet proposed to President Rumen Radev to dismiss Dimitar Georgiev, head of SANS. Prime Minister Stefan Yanev said Georgiev had made politically motivated decisions. On May 26, the head of state signed a decree on a proposal by the Council of Ministers for his release and by another decree appointed Plamen Tonchev as head of the agency.
