The former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, commented on the words of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, and pointed out in an intervention on Al-Jadeed that “his words are realistic in describing the tragedy of the Palestinian people for 75 years, the reality of Gaza, and the beating of civilians without discrimination.” .
Jumblatt added: “Nasrallah described how the October 7 decision was a ‘Hamas’ decision and that Hamas is, above all, part of the Palestinian people. He held the United States of America responsible, just as I hold it and the West responsible. As for the greater escalation, that is, Netanyahu may involve the Americans in a bigger war or reach… Ceasefire and enter into negotiations about the prisoners.”
Commenting on the Americans’ decision that they did not want the war to expand and include Lebanon, Jumblatt said: “I did not hear the signal. Thank you for their generous morals. May they be so kind and implement the ceasefire in Gaza, lift the siege, and open the Al-Dhal crossing, which is called Rafah.”
He continued, “Hamas is fighting on behalf of the Arabs because the majority of Arabs are against the movement considering it a Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas is Palestinian before it is a Muslim Brotherhood. All possibilities are open and we do not know what Israel’s aggressive intentions are.”
