The former developer of GSC Game World was allegedly killed during the war in Ukraine. His face was taken from one of the characters from the Stalker series

In the ongoing conflict on the territory of Ukraine, a number of Ukrainians from various fields, including game development, are involved in homeland defense. Different sources brought the sad information that the developer Volodymyr Yezhov, who was involved in the Stalker, Alexander or Cossacks 2 series at the GSC Game World studio, died in the battles of Bachmut.

Yezhov belonged to the respected members of Ukrainian studies. His face has thus become a direct part of the game, and you may “meet” him as the stalker Loki in the sequel Stalker: Call of Pripyat. They reported Yezhov’s death resources on Twitter and Telegram, the information was later also shared by Czech sources.

The experienced developer was supposed to take part in the current fierce fighting on the Donbass front around the city of Bakhmut, which currently, according to available information, belongs to the worst hotbeds of conflict between Ukraine and the Russian aggressors.

Studio GSC Game World itself is currently working on the second regular part of the Stalker series. However, its development was strongly conditioned by the war and was even completely suspended for some time. In March, the developers have already started moving to the Czech Republic, specifically to the Prague offices, so that they can continue their work. During the year, however, there were reports that some developers stayed in Ukraine for various reasons.

Exputer Resource Magazine rememberthat Andriy Korzinkin, the animator of the Metro series, also died in the fighting in Ukraine.
