Andrej Solomatin is part of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The former national team player has joined a large hooligan battalion.

Andrej Solomatin, 47, played 13 international matches for Russia during his football career. The left back belonged to big clubs such as CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow and also had a short stay in Ukraine with Obolon Kyiv.
Now Solomatin has clearly shown which side he stands on in Russia’s war with the country where he lived in 2005.
“I’m part of it”
To several Russian media, Solomatin confirms that he has joined the notorious unit “Española”, which is largely made up of football hooligans.
– I have been with the fans in the NWO zone (as the Russians call the war zone) and have kept in touch with them, says Solomatin to the site Metaratings who call Española “volunteers”.
The battalion consists of over 500 people and uses, among other things, kamikaze drones in the war.
– All the guys are on the front line and understand that what we need is a win. I am now part of the humanitarian work in the district and we work together. My next trip will take place soon, says Andrej Solomatin.
Criticizes compatriots
In an interview with sports.ru complains Andrej Solomatin that other Russian footballers do not want to take a stand for their country.
– Someone might console themselves with the fact that we will be able to return to championships in the near future, that we will be able to play on the European stage. But I think they are completely wrong, he says.
– It is better to put energy into developing Russian football players.
