Directed by Leonid Kvinikhidze, he filmed the musical fairy tale “June 31”, which was shown only once, and then put on the shelf for many years. At the same time, the creator of the film initially went on a conscious risk.
The fact is that he invited not dramatic actors, but ballet dancers to the main roles. In those days, these artists were extremely unreliable. Because three outstanding dancers asked for political asylum in the West, which set an alarming trend.
However, this did not stop Leonid Kvinikhidze, and the main roles in his musical went to Natalya Trubnikova, Alexander Godunov and Natalya Vlasova.
The tale of time travel turned out to be beautiful and bright, but it was shown only once – on December 31, 1978, before the New Year. However, at the beginning of 1979, it became known that the leading actor Godunov decided to stay in the United States and not return to the USSR after the next tour. For this reason, the film was banned, and it was shown again only in the late 80s.
