The “forest goblin” in the Sophienhöhle

On Friday, August 30th, at 8 p.m., the band “Waldschrat” with the artist of the metropolitan region Harry Tröger (percussion and vocals) and Ralf Wunschelmeier (guitar and vocals) will present their latest project about the legends of Upper Franconia in the Sophienhöhle.

With “Waldschrat”, Harry Tröger has become a regional celebrity in Upper Franconia. For this and many other projects, the drumming jack-of-all-trades from Münchberg received a very special award in 2022: He was voted Artist of the Metropolitan Region by the jury of the Forum Culture of the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg.

The band project “Waldschrat” has been around since 1979. According to the program announcement, at least an entire generation can immediately sing along to its dialect lyrics such as “Neigschbeit” or “Soorfass zer Höll”. The music was still covered back then – but the words were not too drastic. “Sich hinein bekommen” or “Jauchefass zur Hölle” would be the High German titles.

His most recent and current project was created during the Corona lockdown phases. The rich treasure trove of legends from the Franconian Forest and Fichtel Mountains inspired him and motivated him to create a modern interpretation of the ancient stories. With a great sense of dialect and a good dose of mischief, he brings characters like “The White Lady of Saalenstein” or “The Card Players from the Devil’s Table” to life for his listeners – in the dialect spoken between Münchberg and Hof.
