VIVA Trending – The death of Wayan Mirna Salihin in 2016 apparently made many people speculate about the cause of his death. As is known, until now the death of the late Mirna Salihin is still a mystery.
In fact, until Jessica Kumala Wongso was named as the perpetrator of her murder, many people still felt that there was something strange about Mirna’s death. And it didn’t make any irregularities in the cyanide coffee case disappear.
This was no exception to the explanation from a forensic expert who denied that Mirna died due to cyanide poisoning. This opinion was expressed directly by the forensic expert at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Dr. Djaja Surya Atmadja.
Explanation of Forensic Experts
As we know, the figure of Dr. Djaja is a forensic expert who handled Mirna’s body in 2016. At that time, he also took part in investigating the cause of Mirna’s death by taking samples from the body of Arief Soemarko’s wife.
Now the testimony of Dr. Djaja’s trial in the Jessica Wongso case was brought back into the spotlight after Neflix Indonesia released a documentary entitled “Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso”.
In his testimony, dr. Djaja revealed that he did not see any signs of cyanide contamination which affected Mirna’s body reactions, precisely immediately after she died.
Furthermore, Dr. Djaja firmly believes that the cause of Mirna’s death was not due to being affected by cyanide coffee as is alleged by people to this day. To prove his statement, Dr. Djaja also provided an explanation of the levels of cyanide that can cause fatal effects, including taking human life.
According to him, to make someone die from coffee cyanide, at least 150 mg to 250 mg of cyanide is needed to have a fatal impact on humans.
“In published literature, cyanide can cause death in the form of sodium or potassium at levels of 150-250 mg,” explained Dr. Djaja in the trial of the cyanide coffee case at the Central Jakarta District Court or Jakpus District Court, Wednesday 7 September 2016.
“Meanwhile, the average amount of gastric fluid is 100 cc. If cyanide is indeed present (in Mirna’s body), then you can definitely smell the smell,” continued Dr. Djaja.
Dr. Djaja also openly expressed his belief that Mirna’s death was not due to being affected by cyanide. This is because the team only found levels of 0.2 mg of cyanide in Mirna’s stomach sample, which levels were deemed unlikely to cause a person’s death.
“So I said, Mirna’s death was not due to cyanide poisoning, sir. If we try to check her blood on a normal person, our stomach will definitely contain cyanide compounds. Is there a little cyanide? Yes, that’s okay,” explained Dr. Djaja further.
“If too much cyanide enters (the body), then cyanide can poison the body. If there is no cyanide in the stomach, that means there is no cyanide in the stomach,” continued Dr. Djaja, quoted by VIVA.co.id on Thursday, October 5 2023.
The same statement was also expressed by lawyer Jessica Wongso in 2016. Otto Hasibuan also had the same opinion, that there were many irregularities in the cyanide coffee case that befell his client. Jessica Mila’s father-in-law even asked that Mirna’s death case be reopened because he believed that his former client was innocent.
