The Foreign Ministry is authorized to welcome: Moscow appreciated Yerevan’s position on arms supplies: EADaily

Russia welcomes the position of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said today, December 6, during a briefing for journalists, commenting on the words of the deputy head of the Armenian military department Hrachya Sargsyan.

Last Monday, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Transcaucasian republic noted that Armenia does not intend to sue Russia in connection with the failure to fulfill arms deals, within the framework of which Yerevan did not receive the ordered military products, although it made the appropriate payments.

“We can only welcome this. As we understand, the Russian Ministry of Defense has a similar attitude,” – said Zakharova.

Touching upon the military-technical cooperation of Armenia with other countries, the Russian diplomat noted that she would not like the Armenian people to be deceived by Western “sort of friends.” According to her, the French Bastion armored vehicles supplied to the Transcaucasian CSTO member are “illiquid”, which is obvious even from the situation unfolding in the context of a special Russian military operation.

“If many media outlets, unfortunately related to the current authorities in Armenia, did not present this information distortedly and did not engage in anti-journalistic activities, but gave the people of their country the opportunity to get acquainted with quotes and direct speech, it would probably be more clear that in the next since the West is slipping a fake to the people of Armenia,” – said Zakharova.

According to her, it also seems obvious that the “hodgepodge of military equipment” produced in different countries never contributes to increasing defense capability.

The Bastion armored vehicles sent by France to Armenia were once abandoned in Ukraine due to their poor protection from artillery fire, Ouest France reported on November 13.

Prime minister Nikol Pashinyan stated last month that the issue of reducing Armenia’s debt to Russia at the expense of funds previously paid for the purchase of weapons is being considered. The head of government spoke about this on November 24 during a direct line, answering questions from citizens. Pashinyan did not explain what amount we are talking about, only noting that there are problems with non-fulfillment of arms contracts. The mentioned mechanism is not the only option for resolving the issue; there are several ways to resolve the situation, the prime minister noted.
