Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacted to Moldova’s statement on the Chaus case

Investigation of all the circumstances in the Chaus case is possible only with full cooperation of the Ukrainian and Moldovan sides, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they were surprised by the information from Moldova about the completion of the unilateral investigation of the case of Judge Nicolae Chaus. The ministry noted that Ukraine has repeatedly declared its readiness for maximum cooperation with Moldova in the case of Nikolai Chaus. This issue was discussed both at the level of presidents and foreign ministers.
“On May 12, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine received a request from the General Prosecutor’s Office of Moldova to provide legal assistance in the framework of an open criminal case. On May 17, the Ukrainian side addressed the Moldovan side with a request for additional information, without which the implementation of international legal assistance was impossible. surprise at the announcement of the completion of the investigation in Moldova unilaterally. A logical question: was there really an interest in establishing the truth, or was it a task to implement a high-profile political process with a predetermined result instead? “
They also added that the role of a third party in this situation is obvious.
“Its goal is to destabilize the internal political situation in Moldova and try to destroy the Ukrainian-Moldovan relations,” the Foreign Ministry said.
They also stressed that the establishment of all the circumstances in the case of Nikolai Chaus is possible only with the full cooperation of the Ukrainian and Moldovan parties.
