A real celebration for Plovdiv residents and guests of the city was created last night at the Ancient Theater by the folklore ensembles “Trakiya” and “Strandzhda”. With thunderous applause, the audience welcomed the guests from Burgas – Professional Folklore Ensemble “Strandja” and the emblem of Plovdiv – Folklore Ensemble “Trakia”. The two ensembles performed a joint concert-performance “Folklore inspirations”, which was a gift for the residents and guests of the city. It took place as a result of the signed “Agreement on cooperation in the field of culture and tourism between the Municipality of Plovdiv and the Municipality of Burgas”.

“Thank you for being here to immerse yourself in the magic of authentic Bulgarian folklore presented by the two emblematic bands for Bulgaria. Two professional groups that never stop promoting and protecting the Bulgarian folklore wealth, culture and self-esteem of the Bulgarian people. A mission – not just worthy of respect and admiration, it is the most valuable mission for each of our compatriots, wherever they are in the world,” stressed the host Mihaela Bogdanova in her opening words at the opening.

As part of the jubilee program on the occasion of 50 years since its foundation, Ensemble “Thrace” presented emblematic works from its repertoire. The opening of the concert began with a joint performance of the two ensembles of the dance piece “Gergeovden”. The choir and orchestra of “Thrakia” presented one of their latest musical pieces “Kune le”, after which the dancers took a kind of walk through the folklore regions of Bulgaria with the dances: “First Meeting”, “May Day Crafts” and “Macedonian Merak” . Dance after dance, song after song, the two ensembles alternated on stage to the unceasing applause of the excited audience. The director of the performance is Prof. Dr. Daniela Jeneva, choreography – Kiril Jenev, Daniela Jeneva, Mario Egov, Dimo ​​Enev. Music: Todor Prashtakov, Lyuben Dosev, Stoyan Paurov, Radi Radev, Borislav Galabov and others.

Professional folk ensemble “Strandja” – Burgas, created in 1965, is composed of three main formations: a female choir based on open folk singing, soloists, an orchestra of folk instruments and a mixed dance group. His repertoire includes dozens of dance productions, choral, solo and orchestral works from all ethnographic fields. Special attention is paid to the recreation of folklore and folk customs from the Strandzha region. In the program of PFA “Strandja”, the joint concert included both well-established works from the ensemble’s repertoire, such as “Palikosh”, “Karutsari”, “Looking at Dimitrovden”, “Tupnato Horo” and others, as well as newly created ones such as the ensemble song “Dei gidi Shteryo” with an authentic example from the village of Gergevets, Sliven region; the orchestral piece “Erkechki melodii”, a piece based on the musical folklore of the village of Kozicheno, Pomorie region. The new thematic ritual dance “Easter is coming” was also presented, created on the basis of the folklore of Bulgarian emigrants from Asia Minor, who today inhabit the southeastern slopes of Stara Planina, or the so-called Aitos Balkan.

In the final, FA Trakia and PFA Strandja reunited to the rhythm of the beloved Thracian Dance. Under the thunderous applause of the audience, the creative drivers of both ensembles bowed from the stage: the chief artistic director of the Folklore Ensemble “Takiya” – Prof. Dr. Daniela Jeneva, the chief ballet master – Assoc. Dr. Dimo ​​Enev, the conductor of the choir – Tsonka Dimitrova, the conductor of the orchestra – Nikolay Paskalev, as well as Mario Egov – chief artistic director of PFA “Strandja” Burgas. The participants in the “Folklore Inspirations” concert-performance also received a basket of flowers from the mayor of Plovdiv Municipality, Kostadin Dimitrov.
