The covid crisis, now linked to inflation and the price of energy, means that 2.5 out of 10 families in Teruel have gone from devoting 60 out of every 100 euros they receive to food and housing to having to use it for it more than 80 euros.
This was one of the data highlighted last Tuesday at the Cáritas headquarters in Teruel by Raúl Flores, coordinator of Cáritas studies and technical secretary of the Foessa report, who presented the latest data from this study that analyzes the situation in the country, within the programming that this entity has organized in Teruel on the occasion of the World Day of the Poor.
The researcher that the crisis intensifies in families with children, which shows that there is “insufficient protection for upbringing” and for the stage of childhood and adolescence. “Families with children have more expenses, often have less income and are the ones that are suffering the most from the last two crises.”
The second challenge that must be addressed according to this researcher is that of housing. “Housing has become a bottomless pit,” he assured, explaining that as soon as the minimum interprofessional wage rises a little or social benefits rise, housing also rises.
