The Focus feature on Zoom helps children focus on learning

With the launch of a new feature called Focus, Zoom hopes that children can focus even more on the learning process when using the platform.

Zoom has just announced the presence of a new mode called Focus. This feature is presented to help children stay focused on online learning during this pandemic period.

This feature will help children learn without having to be distracted by friends taking classes at the same time. However, the teachers will still be able to supervise all the students normally.

When enabled, Focus mode will prevent meeting participants from viewing videos or sharing screens with each other. This provides better control for teachers during the teaching and learning process.

A teacher can turn on Focus mode during a presentation, and then turn it off during a class discussion. Interestingly, this Focus mode will be able to be used for free, as reported by The Verge (13/8).

Even if teachers restrict their students’ views, participants will still be able to view their own videos, as well as any video or screen-sharing views that the presenter highlights. They can also see the names of other participants, as well as any emoji reactions.

Overall, this feature does look like a unique way to keep students focused and not distracting each other in class. In fact, this feature is also interesting to use in addition to the teaching and learning process, for example office coordination meetings.
