The Front National already has 8 departmental councilors elected in France, including 2 in Picardy. The binomial (unknown until then) Marie-Christine Gilliot et Noel Lecoutre emerged victorious from the duel with the left in the canton of Vic-sur-Aisne with almost 54% of the votes.
