The flu vaccination starts on Monday

The flu vaccination campaign begins next Monday, October 18. The vaccine is recommended for people over 65 years of age, healthcare personnel, pregnant women and risk groups. The appointment can be taken from this Thursday and the rest of the population may also request to be vaccinated from November 15.

How to make an appointment?

To make an appointment to get vaccinated, two channels have been enabled:

  • The section Appointment from the Osakidetza website: osakidetza.eus
  • Calling the clinic and pressing key 2 after listening to the announcement.

At the time of making the appointment, the place where the vaccine will be administered, which will be mainly health centers. Osakidetza has acquired a total of 651,333 doses, an amount that can be increased by up to 20% if there is a greater demand.

Bell

This year the chosen motto is “And now that the flu does not separate us. Get vaccinated ”, a message that recalls the effort made for more than a year and a half and that should not fall on deaf ears.

The campaign aims to preserve the individual health of the most vulnerable people, but also take care of collective health. For this reason, as was done last year, the population that does not belong to any risk group may also be vaccinated, as long as there are vaccines available.

Third dose against coronavirus

Osakidetza will offer the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine at the same time as the flu in those cases in which two requirements are met:

  • Being 70 years or older
  • Having received the coronavirus vaccine more than 6 months ago.
